After Johnny Strange visits and fixes the Schneider family TV, he begins watching an anime, which Brent finds perplexing. The argument shifts to Missy criticizing her mother's passive acceptance of her stereotypical role of housewife. This prompts Angela to seek employment as a disc jockey on WHYU, a local station operated by Hector Bing. Her training with DJ Max Grody runs smoothly and she soon is the solo host of a 1980s program, under the name, "Awesome Angie". However, Angela's commentary on the musical artists are far less than flattering. This is unknown to Missy, who is proud of her mother being a working woman. She arranges a time to listen to her mother's broadcast with Johnny and some friends. To Missy's surprise, Angela's comments, and personal remarks bout her, turns Missy's pride to embarrassment. Moreover, Hector Bing overheard her discussion and fired her on the air... with Missy and he friends tuned in. As Max Grody defends her, the station secretary breaks in to inform Mr. Bing that the phone lines are flooded with listeners who love her frank discourse. Hector Bing re-hired her, but she turns it down. As much as she enjoyed her time at WHYU, she realized that being a mother is what she enjoyed, and is what she returns to. Missy is upset, but Angela presents her with a Barbie Doll as a gift and reminds her that, despite her physical portrayal, she's mastered many professions across 50 years.
